There are a lot of stories to work CLIL. Here we include a selection of the ones we liked the most for first cycle of Primary Education:

The very hungry Caterpillar - Eric Carle
This is an edited version of a bestseller story written for young pupils. During the story the caterpillar eats his way through all kinds of food. It is very useful in #NaturalScience in order to work on the live circle of this animal. There are a lot of complementing activities, song or narrated versions to work the topic in different ways and go further.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear - Bill Martin Jr & Eric Carle

Polar Bear, Polar Bear is a fantastic resource to work on animals' vocabulary with the little ones. It links each animal with its sound. Therefore, it is a good tool to present the animals as an introduction for a topic from #NaturalScience.

Does a Kangaroo have a Mother, too? - Eric Carle
Related to the last book mentioned above, this one is a good tool to work on animal's families. There's a representation of the different animals with their babies. It is not only to work the vocabulary but to increase the conscience about taking care of our planet by establishing a paralelism between animals and humans: we all have a mother.

Opposites - Eric Clare
This is a useful tool in order to introduce opposites in a #LanguageAndLiterature class. This book provides different illustrated examples to make students comprehend what does opposite mean.

Monkey and Me - Emily Garvett
Monkey and Me is an interesting story to review all animals before to sleep. It can be used in class to calm down students or to start a relaxing session while reviewing some vocabulary.

There was an old lady who swallowed the sea - Pam Adams
This story is a good tool in order to work on sea animals' vocabulary. Moreover, it can be singed. Therefore, children will understand the vocabulary through the images and the teacher's explanation while they can integrate it thanks to the rhythm of the book.

The Gruffalo - Axel Scheffler & Julia Donaldson
The Gruffalo is a very funy story about a smart mouse who uses a gruffalo in order to scape from the animals that want to eat him. It's a good tool in order to work on animal vocabularies. Also, it is a good tool to work on the moral of books.

The Gruffalo's Child - Axel Scheffler & Julia Donaldson
If students are engaged and motivate with this story then it could be great to work on the second part of the book.

''One night, the Gruffalo's child wanders into the woods to search for the Big Bad Mouse. But insteadm she comes upon a small mouse in the woods... and decides to eat him! But wait, what is that? A shadow of a very large, scary creature falls on the ground. Could it be the Big Bad Mouse after all?''

Handa’s Surprise - Eileen Browne
Handa is an african girl who wants to buy fruit for a friend. During the story we are shown different types of fruits. It is a good tool to introduce fruits vocabulary or to work on it. Moreover, it is a good tool to work on different cultures and acceptance towards diversity.

Today is Monday - Eric Carle
It is a useful tool in order to work on animals, food and days of the week.
